SEPARATE WAITING AREAS
[Back]

Once the court date nears, other protective measures may also be available. On the day of preliminary hearing or trial, victims can also be provided with separate waiting areas, so they will not encounter the defendant in the hall or in the courtroom before the case is called. This protection can be comforting to many, especially if the victim is still uneasy about seeing his or her attacker. If the assault occurred at a place other that the victim’s home, it may also be possible to keep the victims’ address and phone number confidential.
