RIGHTS HISTORY
1984
The passage of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA)
establishes the Crime Victims
Fund, made up of federal crime fines, penalties, and bond
forfeitures, to support
victim compensation and local victim service programs.
The U. S. Congress passes the Family Violence Prevention and
Services Act,
which earmarks federal funding for programs serving victims
of domestic violence.
A victim/witness notification system is established within the
Federal Bureau of
Prisons.
Victim/Witness Coordinator positions are established in the U. S. Attorney’s offices
within the U. S. Department of Justice.
