1976     First hotline for battered women established in by Women’s Advocates in St. Paul,   

            Minnesota. 

            Women’s Advocates and Haven House established the first battered women’s 

            shelter. 

            James Rowland creates the first Victim Impact Statement to provide the Court with 

            an inventory of victim injuries and losses prior to a defendant’s sentencing.
