CHILDREN & COURT
[ Before Court ] [ On the Day of Court ] [ After Court ] [ Tips for Caregivers ]

Going to
court can be a fearful experience for children. Contrary to some
beliefs, however, research shows that testifying in court is not always
a negative experience. Some children feel empowered by
having the
opportunity to tell what happened to them and know that their voice is
important. There are many things you can do as an adult to help make
your child's courtroom experience less intimidating. On this
page, you will find some topics that may be of special interest if you have a child who
has been subpoenaed to court. Contact your local Victim-Witness
Assistance Program for more information and/or helpful brochures.
