REDISTRICTING 2002

IMPORTANT NOTICE

THE US CONSTITUTION , THE VIRGINIA CONSTITUTION AND THE CODE OF VIRGINIA REQUIRE THAT STATE AND LOCALITIES REDISTRICT ONE YEAR AFTER THE DECENNIAL CENSUS.  THE YORK COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PASSED AN ORDINANCE NOVEMBER 20, 2001 ADJUSTING LOCAL ELECTION DISTRICTS AND PRECINCT BOUNDARIES.  

THE US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE APPROVED THE REDISTRICTING PLAN MARCH 8, 2002.  NEW VOTER CARDS AND NOTICES WILL BE MAILED TO ALL REGISTERED VOTERS WHO WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE REDISTRICTING CHANGES.  THE VOTER CARDS WILL TELL VOTERS WHAT DISTRICT AND PRECINCT THEY NOW RESIDE IN AND WHERE THEIR POLLING PLACE IS LOCATED.
