Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent

Jim Orband

Jim earned his BS (77), and MS (95) degrees in Horticulture from Virginia Tech.  Jim is very familiar with gardening on the Peninsula since he gardened at home in Norfolk at a young age.  He was employed with Virginia Cooperative Extension in 1977, serving as the Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development in York until 1988.  Since that time he has served York County as the Horticulture and Natural Resources Agent.  Jim serves the home enthusiast as well as the professional horticulturist/nurseryman.  He coordinates a very active educational program.  Under Jim's guidance over 125 Master Gardener volunteers provide a very effective delivery system for these quality educational and informative programs.

The Extension website will aid you in finding documents that serve a state-wide audience as well as documents that address local needs.  Please contact Jim if he can be of any help.
