Thursday-Sunday, May 29-June 1, 2008 - Kalmar Nyckel, The Tall Ship of Delaware.  Visit the Riverwalk Landing piers in historic Yorktown and step aboard the Kalmar Nyckel, The Tall Ship of Delaware.  This nostalgic ship will offer free public dockside tours on select days and times.  3-hour sails will also be offered (admission ticket required).  The Kalmar Nyckel serves as Delaware's seagoing goodwill ambassador.  Built by a group of committed citizens, the ship is a continuing witness to the courage and spirit of those individuals who undertook the mid-winter North Atlantic crossing in 1637-1638.  Sponsored by the Yorktown Foundation Tall Ships Committee and York County.  For tickets or more information please call (757) 814-1633 or e-mail gintail@earthlink.net. The flyer contains a complete schedule of available tours and sails. Friday, December 5, 2008, 7:30 pm - Yorktown Celebrates Christmas:  Illumination and Christmas Tree Lighting The holiday lights go on and the festive season begins at 7 pm with entertainment at the Victory Monument followed by the Procession of Lights through historic Yorktown to Riverwalk Landing.  The tree lighting ceremony, which includes holiday entertainment and a visit from Santa, begins at 7:30 pm and concludes at 8:30 pm.
