Description |
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as lead worker for unit. Assists in
training & monitoring work of unit. Supports & assists clients,
individually & in groups, utilizing available resources to meet their
personal, social, health & economic needs & to help them develop their
own capabilities. Provides guidance to clients seeking alternative
solutions to specific problems, such as child care, management of
finances, housing, health needs, education, vocational training &
employment. Locates, develops & coordinates community resources.
Educates public on needs & problems of customers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR ABILITIES: Knowledge of social work
principles & practices; knowledge of social, economic & health
problems that face individuals, groups & communities; knowledge of
human behavior; ability to exchange information orally with clients,
co-workers, & staff members of other agencies; ability to make &
implement case decisions; ability to assess an individual's and/or
family's strengths & needs; ability to respond to the client's
emotions; ability to plan & manage own work activities with minimum
supervision; ability to effectively present ideas, information &
decisions in a written format; & ability to interpret laws, policies,
& regulations.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: In order to be evaluated for vacancies in the
Service Program/Service Program Supervision classification series,
applicants must: (1) Possess a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in
the Human Services field; or (2) Possess a minimum of a baccalaureate
degree in any field accompanied by a minimum of two (2) years of
appropriate & related experience in a Human Services-related area.
This position is responsible for recruiting, training and approving
foster care homes. May supervise other child welfare staff.
Also, applicants must be willing to work outside of normal working
hours, which may include being on-call for emergencies twenty-four
hours a day, including weekends.
