Crime Prevention Unit
The Crime Prevention Unit was established
with one deputy by
Sheriff Diggs in July 2001, fulfilling one of his campaign promises. In
2004, Sheriff Diggs saw the need to increase the units size and created
another position. The
Crime Prevention Unit has two full time deputies and is assisted by other
deputies as needed. The Crime Prevention Unit operates out of the
Sheriff's Office located at 301 Goodwin Neck Road.
Crime Prevention Mission
The Crime Prevention Unit assists
the citizens and business of York County and the City of Poquoson by forecasting
the possibility of crime occurring and hardening the target. This is
accomplished in large degree through education. The Crime Prevention Unit
gives numerous presentations to community and civic groups. Topics such
as, Personal Safety, Home Security, Identity Theft and Neighborhood Watch are
given frequently. Other topics are available as needed. The Crime
Prevention Unit also coordinates our highly regarded Neighborhood E-mail alert
program. If you have any questions or would like to host a presentation
please contact Deputy Aaron Rosen at 757-890-3639.
