YARD WASTE
COLLECTION.
York County residents have the
opportunity to schedule a special yard debris collection for items such as
limbs, branches and bags of natural yard waste.
-
Effective February 1, 2005,
acceptable material size for residential yard debris placed at the curb
resumed to 8" diameter and 10' in length. Please note that VPPSA will
continue to accept residential and commercial yard debris deliveries
containing material up to a 24" diameter and 10" length.
-
All residents may schedule a
yard debris collection (approximately 15 cubic yards) at a rate of $25
for the first load. Each additional load collected within 90 days after
the first collection will be an additional $250 per load.
-
All landscape contractors
working under contract who bring yard waste to VPPSA's Composting
Facility will be charged a tipping fee of $38 per ton (prorated).
Landscape contractors living in York County wishing to deliver materials
collected from their personal residences must contact the York County
Waste Management Center at (757) 890-3780 at least one week in
advance to allow staff to inspect the material to be delivered while
still on the grounds of the residence. This is required to ensure that
the materials being brought to the composting facility are in fact
residentail and not commercial in nature.
-
Loose yard debris such as
grass, leaves and straw must be placed in clear bags.
-
Stumps, construction debris,
and other materials cannot be collected.
-
Materials must be at the
front roadside by 7 a.m. on the Monday of your scheduled collection week
to ensure pickup before the end of the week.
