Summer Fun- Upper County

completed Grades K - 4
General Information.
This
Summer Fun Playground Program is offered to Williamsburg, James City County and
York County residents. The site will be at Queens Lake Middle School.
The
Summer Fun Playground Program focuses on keeping participants active and
challenged in a safe recreational setting. Each program site features
station-based activities in open environments. Whether the choice is bumper
pool, air hockey, nok-hockey, board games, arts and crafts, or outdoor sports
and recreation, the general idea is always FUN! Activities are well supervised
by qualified camp leaders. Air conditioning will not be available at all sites. Refreshments are not
provided. Participants are encouraged to bring drinks, snacks, and a bag lunch
each day. The Summer Fun site does not have access to a phone. If you need to
contact your child you will need to visit the site.
Eligibility.
Residents of York County, James City County, and the City of Williamsburg are
eligible to register All other must wait until May 21 to
register, pay the non-resident fee and will only be accepted on a as available
bases. Participants must have just completed the designated
grades to participate in this program.
Registration. No
registrations will be accepted before Monday, May 12, 2008. Registration will
be accepted by mail or in person at the York County Parks and Recreation Office,
100 County Drive, Yorktown. (For your convenience, registration forms may be
dropped off at the Williamsburg Recreation Center at Quarterpath Park
beginning
Monday, May 12 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
and May 19 for non residents see "Eligibility" above.) Please make checks
payable to "York County Parks and Recreation." Please submit one check per
family. Once your registration has been received you will be required to
complete the following forms: Health Information Form, Field Trip Permission
Form, Medication Release Form. Your child will not be permitted to attend a
Summer Fun site if this information is not completed prior to his/her first day.
Waivers.
The
Board of Supervisors has authorized a fee wavier for this program for any child
whose family falls within the federal guidelines for Food Stamp Eligibility
Limits applicable to York County. A copy of your Food Stamp Card is required
with the registration form in order to qualify for this fee waiver.
Field Trips.
Field trips add to the extraordinary Summer Fun camp experience. The Summer Fun
sites will not be open for regular activities on field trip days. Children
attending field trips must leave when the Summer Fun site leaves. In case of
rain, participants should call 890-3501 prior to 8:15 AM to find out if the
field trip has been canceled. Participants are responsible for additional
spending money on field trip days.
Attire.
Summer Fun participants are
recommended to wear "play" type clothing. Some activities can be messy. Footwear
is required at all times. Sneakers or athletic shoes are recommended. Sandals
and flip-flops are only acceptable for field trips to pool.
Not Permitted - Non-religious head coverings and phones, clothing that
leaves undergarments exposed, clothing which exposes the midriff, tight or
suggestive clothing.
Registration is required for this program and is accepted on a first come,
