Summer Fun- Lower County
Children having
completed Grades 5 - 7
General Information.
The site for the Middle
School Summer Fun Program for children who have just completed 5 -
7th grades will be at Grafton Middle School.
The Summer Fun Playground
Program focuses on keeping participants active and challenged in a safe
recreational setting. Each program site features station-based activities in
open environments. Whether the choice is bumper pool, air hockey, nok-hockey,
board games, arts and crafts, or outdoor sports and recreation, the general idea
is always FUN! Activities are well supervised by qualified camp leaders.
Air conditioning will not be available at all sites. Refreshments are not
provided. Participants are encouraged to bring drinks, snacks, and a bag lunch
each day. The Summer Fun site does not have access to a phone. If you need to
contact your child you will need to visit the site.
Eligibility.
Residents of York County, James City County, and the City of Williamsburg are
eligible to register. Participants must have just completed the designated
grades to participate in this program.
Registration.
No registrations will be
accepted before Monday, May 12, 2008.
Non Residents may register beginning May 19, 2008 on a space available basis. Please make checks payable to "York County

leave when the Summer Fun site leaves. In case of rain, participants should call
890-3501 prior to 8:15 AM to find out if the field trip has been canceled.
Participants are responsible for additional spending money on field trip days.

recommended to wear "play" type clothing. Some activities can be messy. Footwear
is required at all times. Sneakers or athletic shoes are recommended. Sandals
and flip-flops are only acceptable for field trips to pool.
Not Permitted - Non-religious head coverings and phones, clothing that
leaves undergarments exposed, clothing which exposes the midriff, tight or

Summer Fun Shuttle
Bus.
Limited
transportation is provided. York County Parks and Recreation, with the
cooperation of the York County School Division of Transportation, provides a
SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE for participants. This service is not a door to door pick
up and take home service; it is strictly a shuttle. Parents are encouraged
to choose a bus stop that best fits your needs for pick-up and drop-off. You are
responsible for the safety of your child at this stop. Middle school
participants wishing to use the shuttle bus service will travel to the
Elementary Summer Fun site and then be transported to Grafton Middle School. They
