Adjourned Meeting
March 13, 2000
6:00 p.m.
Meeting Convened. An Adjourned Meeting of the York County Board of
Supervisors was called to order at 6:05 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2000, at
the Port of York, US Coast Guard Training Center, Yorktown, by Chairman
Walter C. Zaremba.
Attendance. The following members of the Board of Supervisors were
present: Walter C. Zaremba, Sheila S. Noll, Donald E. Wiggins, James S.
Burgett, and Melanie L. Rapp.
Also in attendance were Daniel M. Stuck, County Administrator; and
James E. Barnett, County Attorney.
JOINT MEETING WITH THE YORK COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD
School Board Members Present: C. Donald Felling; Chairman; R. Page
Minter, Vice Chairman; Barbara Haywood; Mark A. Medford; and Barrent M.
Henry.
Also present were: Dr. Steven Staples, Superintendent of Schools;
Richard M. Hixson, Deputy Superintendent of Operations; Dennis R.
Jarrett, Director of Finance; and Valerie A. Taylor, Assistant
Superintendent for Instruction.
During the dinner meeting, Dr. Staples briefed the Board of
Supervisors on his proposed budget and actions taken during this year's
session of the General Assembly pertaining to education funding. The
School Board has been developing its budget, attempting to stay within
County revenue estimates provided by the County Administrator.
Some discussion took place regarding the Standards of Learning, and
Dr. Staples provided an update on the technology initiative as requested
by Chairman Zaremba.
Meeting Adjourned. At 9:02 p.m. Chairman Zaremba declared the meeting
adjourned to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in the Auditorium, York
High School, for the purpose of con-ducting public hearings on the
proposed FY2001 Budget and 2000 Tax Rates.
