Adjourned Meeting
March 6, 2000
6:00 p.m.
Meeting Convened. An Adjourned Meeting of the York County Board of
Supervisors was called to order at 6:10 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2000, at
the Port of York, US Coast Guard Training Center, Yorktown, by Chairman
Walter C. Zaremba.
Attendance. The following members of the Board of Supervisors were
present: Walter C. Zaremba, Sheila S. Noll, Donald E. Wiggins, and James
S. Burgett
Melanie L. Rapp was absent.
Also in attendance were Daniel M. Stuck, County Administrator; and
James E. Barnett, County Attorney.
JOINT MEETING WITH THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT OF YORK COUNTY
Members of the Industrial Development Authority Present: Raymond
W. Walsh, Chairman: Kenneth C. Matthews, Vice Chairman; Harmon J.
Coxton; Alex G. Llorente; Richard A. Moberg; and A. Travis Quesenberry.
Dennis Holbrook was absent.
Also in attendance were: James W. Noel, Jr., Executive Director,
Industrial Development Authority; and Steve Cook, IDA Business
Development Representative.
During the dinner meeting, general discussion took place on the
following issues:
· Board of Supervisors Goals-importance of economic development
with respect to the Industrial Development Authority-Goals of the
Industrial Development Authority
· FY2001 IDA Budget Request/Funding of IDA Marketing Budget
· Update on the Strategic Planning Committee Study-Discussion of
Results/Recommendations
· Infrastructure Development/Public-Private Partnership
· Possibility of the formation of a small advisory committee of
successful businessmen to review prospective businesses looking to
locate in York County
· Goals/Objectives for the IDA/BOS Retreat
Regarding the scheduled April 15 retreat between the Board of
Supervisors and the IDA, there was agreement that the primary effort
should be to define the type of balanced economic development the County
desires to attract with the purpose of using that guidance as a
foundation for developing a working strategy.
Meeting Adjourned. At 8:58 p.m. Chairman Zaremba declared the
meeting adjourned to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in the East
Room, York Hall, for the purpose of conducting a work session.
