Literary Consortium to present Author David Baldacci


VPLC presents David Baldacci on Oct. 15 at Thomas Nelson Community College.NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – David Baldacci, the No. 1 New York Times bestselling novelist, will speak at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Thomas Nelson Community College. His appearance is free to the public, but tickets are required. Baldacci will share humorous tales of his experiences in researching and writing his novels under the title, "Life Between the Pages."

Best known for his political thrillers and his Camel Club and King and Maxwell series, all of Baldacci's 16 novels have become national and international bestsellers. His newest book, "First Family," was released April 21.

Free tickets for the author talk, question-and-answer session and book signing are available beginning Sept. 15 at the sponsoring libraries of the Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium, which consists of the public libraries of York County, Newport News, Hampton and Poquoson and the academic libraries of Christopher Newport University, Hampton University and Thomas Nelson Community College. Tickets will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to two per person while supplies last. Open seating at the event, to be held in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium in Templin Hall, is limited, and attendees are advised to arrive early. Ticket holders will be seated first. Any remaining seats will then be open to the general public.

The Baldacci event is the third free author event sponsored by the Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium, which presented the best-selling author Amy Tan in 2007 and Walter Mosley in 2008.

Recently the Wish You Well Foundation partnered with Feeding America to launch "Feeding Body and Mind." Through "Feeding Body and Mind," hundreds of thousands of new and used books have been collected and distributed through area food banks, helping feed both body and mind.
