NOTARY SERVICE
In
need of a notary public? Notary service is available free of charge during most
hours at both the Tabb and Yorktown libraries. Notaries can perform
various notarial acts including taking acknowledgments, administering oaths,
certifying affidavits, certifying depositions, and certifying "true copies" of
documents. Virginia notaries are not authorized to certify true copies of
birth, death, or marriage certificates.
Acceptable proof of identity is required before a document can be notarized.
Acceptable proof of identity is a United States Passport, a certificate of
United States citizenship, a certificate of naturalization, an unexpired
foreign passport, an alien registration card with photograph, a state-issued
driver's license, state-issued identification card, or a United States
military card.
