- Abstract:

The original work of compilation and digitization of the tax parcel layer was performed by the Sirine Group, LTD from 1989-1995. Their work included researching each property's recorded plat or deed and page references. The plats or deeds, in conjuction with the currently available tax maps and digital orthophotography, were then used to compile a county-wide parcel layer. The parcel layer is continuously updated as new subdivision plats and surveys are recorded.

The parcel polygon layer provides approximate size, location, and associated information of properties within York County. It should be used for informational purposes only and is not suitable for detailed site planning.

The original digital parcel data was received under contract of Sirine Group, LTD in November 1995. Sirine Group compiled parcel data from existing assessment records, photocopies of recorded deed and map records, recorder's office maps, plat books, subdivision plans, surveys, Assessor's office records, property record index cards, wills, and other records as they were available. York County originally adopted the ArcInfo spatial database model for its tax parcel database. In 2005, a geodatabase data model, the Spatial Data Engine (SDE) was implemented to replace the coverage database model.
