Abstract:
The planimetric dataset includes 10 different map layers digitized directly from York County's orthophotography. The driveways layer shows the location where pavement connects buildings to the roads, representing both public and private driveways. This includes blacktop, concrete, and gravel driveways. The layer was originally digitized from the 1:1200 scale mylar orthophotography flown in February 1990. It was updated in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002, and 2005 with digital orthophotos using heads-up digitizing. The driveways layer will be updated as new digital imagery is acquired.

Provide driveway outlines for mapping and analysis, including impervious surface analysis
Supplemental_Information:
Prior to the 1999 planimetric update, driveways were digitized as line (arc) features. This did not allow for accurate impervious surface analysis or graphic representation of the feature. During the 1999 update, the driveways were converted to plygon features by buffering the existing arc by an operator-specified distance. The average driveway was 9 feet wide, therefore most driveways were buffered by that distance. Driveways appearing wider than than the average were measured and buffered according to their measured distance.
