LOCATION! The ID5K replaces the 5K "Freedom Run" previously
held on July 4th. Registration begins at 6:30 AM at York High
School. The run starts and ends on the Battlefield Tour Road

ENTERTAINMENT: “The Fifes and Drums of York
Town” will lead a procession of people from their headquarters
building on Church Street to Grace Episcopal Church. The church
will then be open for public tours. Docents will provide a
glimpse into the past of one of Yorktown’s most historic

DAR will offer note cards for tourists and local citizens to
inscribe with a short expression of gratitude and encouragement

Cards are available at the Old Custom House at the corner of

Museum located in the lower level of York Hall, corner of Main
and Ballard Streets. The museum contains many artifacts that
reveal the unique history of the Yorktown area. A special
exhibit will be on display at the newly-opened Museum on Main at
408 Main Street. |

SPECIAL EVENT: “The Sounds of Liberty”
This national observance commemorates the 232nd anniversary of
the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the ringing of
a bell. Performed in the courtyard of the historic Nelson House
on Main Street, home of Thomas Nelson, Jr., signer of the
Declaration. Sponsored by the York County Historical Museum,
Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence,
The Fifes and Drums of York Town, and the Fourth of July
Celebration Committee. |

INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE: Departs the parade
assembly area at the Five Points intersection at 3:45 PM
Proceeds up Zweybrucken Road to Main Street where it officially
begins at 4:00 PM with the traditional flyover of aircrafts from
the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base. Continues down
Main Street past the reviewing stand at the Victory Monument,
turns right on Ballard Street, down the hill and left on Water
Street, through Riverwalk Landing. The parade officially
concludes at the Yorktown Victory Center. |

ENTERTAINMENT: Elvis impersonator, "Charlie
Dunn" opens the evening's entertainment on the Commons Stage in
Riverwalk Landing. At 6:30, "The Rhondels" take the stage to
perform a variety of music all the way up to the fireworks show
at 9:15. Sponsored by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee. |
