The following is a tentative schedule of events and is subject to change without notice.

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

YORKTOWN INDEPENDENCE DAY 5K (ID5K): NEW LOCATION! The ID5K replaces the 5K "Freedom Run" previously held on July 4th. Registration begins at 6:30 AM at York High School. The run starts and ends on the Battlefield Tour Road adjacent to the school. Event sponsored by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee.

8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

VISITOR SERVICES: Information, Volunteer Check-In and Lost & Found are located across from the Victory Monument. Information is also located in the Battlefield parking area, corner of Cook Road and Ballard Street.

8:00 AM - 9:00 PM

CONCESSIONS: Visit the Committee Concession Stands located at the Arts & Crafts Fair in Riverwalk Landing. Proceeds support the Fourth of July celebration.

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

ARTS & CRAFTS: Arts & Crafts Fair on the Chischiak Green on Water Street. Artisans will exhibit and sell their handiwork. Event sponsored by Ben Franklin Crafts.

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

COLONIAL NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK: The Park Service Visitor Center offers free admission on July 4th. See the movie about the Siege of Yorktown and view the display of the tents used by George Washington during the Siege.

10:00 AM

ENTERTAINMENT: “The Fifes and Drums of York Town” will lead a procession of people from their headquarters building on Church Street to Grace Episcopal Church. The church will then be open for public tours. Docents will provide a glimpse into the past of one of Yorktown’s most historic buildings.

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

ACTIVITY: Tour the Old Custom House at the corner of Read and Main Streets. Maintained by Comte de Grasse Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

SPECIAL EVENT: "For the Soldier" The DAR will offer note cards for tourists and local citizens to inscribe with a short expression of gratitude and encouragement to our soldiers in the Middle East for their service to our country in this challenging time in our history. The cards will be collected and mailed by the women of Comte de Grasse, NSDAR. Cards are available at the Old Custom House at the corner of Read and Main Streets.

10:00 AM - 10:00 PM

CONCESSIONS: Support the Fourth of July Celebration by visiting the Committee Concession Stand located across from the Victory Monument. The menu includes Hot Dogs, Barbecue, French Fries, Popcorn, Ice-Cold Pickles, Snow Cones, Sodas, and Water.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

ENTERTAINMENT: "Live Wire" will perform on the Commons Stage in Riverwalk Landing. "Live Wire" is a seven piece band with a brass section. The vocalist, Lynda Smith has recorded four albums and has won numerous awards. Sponsored by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee.

12:00 PM - 3:30 PM

ACTIVITY: NEW LOCATION! 8th Annual Classic Car Show located in the National Park Service Visitor Center parking lot at the end of Colonial Parkway. Open to Antique, Classic and Muscle Vehicles (Pre-1988). Event co-sponsored by Classic Cruisers Car Club and the Fourth of July Celebration Committee.

12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

CONCESSIONS: Concessions are located on Main Street between Church and Read Streets. Operated by local non-profit organizations. A variety of food and beverages for sale.

12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

ENTERTAINMENT: Live entertainment located on Main Street between Church and Read Streets adjacent to the concessions area. Sponsored by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee.

12:00 PM - 10:00 PM

SOUVENIRS: Souvenir 4th of July T-Shirts, hats, and other patriotic memorabilia are available at booths across from the Victory Monument and on Main Street next to the Yorktown Shoppe. Proceeds support the Fourth of July celebration.

12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

ACTIVITY: Visit the York County Historical Museum located in the lower level of York Hall, corner of Main and Ballard Streets. The museum contains many artifacts that reveal the unique history of the Yorktown area. A special exhibit will be on display at the newly-opened Museum on Main at 408 Main Street.

2:00 PM

SPECIAL EVENT: “The Sounds of Liberty” This national observance commemorates the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the ringing of a bell. Performed in the courtyard of the historic Nelson House on Main Street, home of Thomas Nelson, Jr., signer of the Declaration. Sponsored by the York County Historical Museum, Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, The Fifes and Drums of York Town, and the Fourth of July Celebration Committee.

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

ACTIVITY: Children's Fun (Ages 5-12). Located at the corner of Main and Read Streets, across from the Nelson House. Moonwalk Sponge Bob, Pirate Ship, Slide Whale, Face Painting and other games. Free patriotic balloons. An adult or parent must accompany younger children.

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

ACTIVITY: Horse and Pony Rides (Children of all ages). Located in the stables behind the Swan Tavern at the corner of Ballard and Main Streets. Sponsored by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee.

3:00 PM - 3:30 PM

ENTERTAINMENT: Patriotic songs by members of the “Yorktown Chorale.” Performed at the Yorktown Victory Monument.

3:45 PM - 5:00 PM

ENTERTAINMENT: The US Coast Guard Training Center Band will play numerous patriotic selections immediately prior to and during the parade. Adjacent to the reviewing stand at the Yorktown Victory Monument.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE: Departs the parade assembly area at the Five Points intersection at 3:45 PM Proceeds up Zweybrucken Road to Main Street where it officially begins at 4:00 PM with the traditional flyover of aircrafts from the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base. Continues down Main Street past the reviewing stand at the Victory Monument, turns right on Ballard Street, down the hill and left on Water Street, through Riverwalk Landing. The parade officially concludes at the Yorktown Victory Center.

6:00 PM - 9:15 PM

ENTERTAINMENT: Elvis impersonator, "Charlie Dunn" opens the evening's entertainment on the Commons Stage in Riverwalk Landing. At 6:30, "The Rhondels" take the stage to perform a variety of music all the way up to the fireworks show at 9:15. Sponsored by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee.

CONCESSIONS AND SOUVENIRS: Support the Fourth of July Celebration by visiting the Committee Concession and Souvenir Stands located across from the Victory Monument and in Riverwalk Landing. Food and drinks, souvenir 4th of July T-Shirts, hats, and other patriotic memorabilia are also available.

7:00 PM

ENTERTAINMENT: Evening activities begin at the Victory Monument with a performance by The Fifes and Drums of York Town and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.

8:00 PM - 9:15 PM

ENTERTAINMENT: The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band from Langley Air Force Base performs a patriotic concert at the Victory Monument. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Band’s participation in the Yorktown 4th of July celebration. Go Air Force!

SOUVENIRS: Glow-necklaces will be sold in the Monument area by the Fourth of July Celebration Committee. Proceeds support the Fourth of July celebration.

9:15 PM

FIREWORKS: Spectacular 29th Anniversary Fireworks Display over the York River.
