ENTERTAINMENT
This year, the celebration will offer a variety
of entertainment and historical interpreters throughout the day.
Refer to the Event Schedule for times and locations.
HIGHLIGHTS
"Live Wire", a very popular local area band
will perform live on the Commons Stage in Riverwalk Landing from 11:00 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m. "Live Wire" is a seven piece band with a brass section.
The vocalist, Lynda Smith, has recorded four albums and has won numerous
awards. Don't miss this great show!
Between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., there
will be a variety of entertainers performing on a small stage in the
churchyard at Grace Church, between Church and Read Streets. Stop by,
sit down and have lunch or dinner from one of the several community service
organizations that will be selling concessions in the area, and have a good
time listening to the entertainment.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Charlie "Elvis - The King"
Dunn will perform live on the Commons Stage in Riverwalk landing.
Charlie has entertained audiences at Yorktown's July 4th celebration for
several years and, when you hear him, you'll understand why. His
renditions of some of Elvis' greatest works will leave you strolling down
memory lane.
At 6:30 p.m., Charlie will yield the stage to The
Rhondels,
featuring Edgar Justus.
The
Rhondels are a musical institution. Making Virginia Beach their home,
this group have been entertaining audiences of all ages around the
country. Performing as The
Rhondels since 1983, formerly Bill Deal &
The
Rhondels from the late 70s, they continue to be a symbol of unequalled
excellence in the music industry. The quality of the performers within
the group has kept them the favorite of music fans everywhere.
Activities at the Victory Monument will
begin at 7:00 p.m. with a performance by The Fifes and Drums of Yorktown
and,
beginning at 8:00 p.m., the ever-popular 4th
of July Patriotic Concert by the United States Air Force Heritage of America
Band
from Langley Air Force Base.

The day will culminate with a fantastic,
music-enhanced, fireworks display over the York River at 9:15 p.m.
Special Note: Visitors coming to
Yorktown for the concerts and fireworks show are strongly encouraged to
arrive no later than 6:30 pm, as Yorktown will be closed to vehicular
traffic once parking lots are full.
