Emergency Management
To minimize the effects of a significant emergency or disaster through the coordination of a comprehensive, risk-based,
emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response, and
recovery.
Objectives
- Mitigation - To actively work towards sustained actions to reduce or
eliminate long-term risk to people and property from hazards and their
effects.
- Preparedness - To plan, train, and exercise county resources for efficient
and effective response to and recovery from emergencies and disasters. To
establish and maintain a program of public awareness to enhance public
self-sufficiency in disasters.
- Response - To coordinate county, regional, state, and federal resources in
an emergency operations center to save lives and property through evacuating
potential victims, providing food, water, shelter, and medical care to those
in need, and restoring critical public services.
- Recovery - To coordinate county, regional, state, and federal resources to
rebuild the community so individuals and businesses can function on their
own and return to a normal life in a timely manner.
