Animal Control
Bureau
Ensure life safety and enhance the quality of life of County
citizens and visitors by enforcing the state and local animal control and
protection laws and ordinances.
Objectives/Capabilities
-
Respond
to requests to control wild and domestic animals posing a threat to the
health and welfare of County citizens and visitors
-
Promote
the humane treatment of animals and the prevention of cruelty and harassment
-
Check
and verify current animal licenses and rabies certificates
-
Issue
summons or warrants when applicable for violations of state animal control
laws and local animal control ordinances and regulations
-
Collect
unlicensed, stray, ill, injured or dangerous animals and transport them to a
humane shelter or veterinarian as appropriate
-
Develop
effective working partnerships with other Fire and Life Safety divisions,
other emergency services organizations and agencies, animal shelters, the
humane society and the public
