ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II

Salary:  $25,693.   Performs difficult and responsible clerical duties for County Administration.  Requires considerable knowledge of business English and modern office procedures and equipment; ability to work independently on responsible administrative assignments and secretarial tasks; ability to maintain moderately complex records and to greet public. Personal computer experience using Microsoft Word software required; PowerPoint, Access, and Excel experience helpful.  Use of Front Page software preferred.  High school graduate or equivalent; experienced in varied clerical work; or any combination of training and experience which provides the necessary skills. ASSISTANT COMMONWEALTH'S ATTORNEY I (PART-TIME)

$23.29 per hour or higher commensurate with experience, qualifications.  Twenty hours per week; limited benefits. Position available in the York-Poquoson Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.  Performs professional work representing the County and City in court.  Prepares and prosecutes cases in all courts, including the more complex felony cases.  Provides legal advice to law enforcement personnel regarding investigations.

COOK (SUBSTITUTE)

$9.40 per hour; no benefits.  Will only work when regular Cook is absent.  Responsible for performing food service work for the Crossroads Community Youth Home, Williamsburg.  Responsible for preparing and cooking meals, and maintain portion control and documentation for USDA records.  Wash dishes and perform general custodial work such as mopping floors and cleaning the kitchen.  Responsible for ordering and maintaining food inventory and stocking the storeroom.  Requires any combination of education and experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.  Must possess a valid Food Handler’s card.  Virginia driver's license and good driving record required. Criminal background and DMV records check conducted prior to employment.

DISPATCHERS

Salary:  $28,328.  Positions available in the Emergency Communications (911) Center.  Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.  Previous experience in public safety dispatching is desired but not required. Must reside within a sixty-minute response time from York County.  Requires high school graduate or equivalent.  Qualified applicants will be given a typing and qualification test, and must be willing to undergo a detailed background review.  Selected applicant must complete all state mandated and agency required training within established time frames.  Excellent benefits.

LIBRARIAN SUPERVISOR

Salary:  $48,447.  Serves as branch manager of the Tabb Library.  Supervises division heads of Reference, Youth Services and Circulation. Assists in the administration of the library’s information management system.  Work is performed with minimal supervision.  Requires a Master’s degree in Library Science, from an ALA accredited institution, and 5-7 years library work, including some supervisory and management experience, or any combination of education and experience.  Requires possession of a Professional Librarian Certificate issued by the Library of Virginia within 6 months of employment and a valid Virginia driver’s license.  Excellent benefits.

RELIEF COUNSELORS

$12.00 per hour; no benefits. Positions available at Crossroads Community Youth Home in Williamsburg.  High school graduate or equivalent.  Currently have openings to fill in for regular counselors on vaca­tion, sick leave, or in training. Home is open 24-hours a day with three 8-hour shifts:  Midnight to 8:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. to midnight.  Counselors needed for all shifts.

STORMWATER CHIEF

Salary:  $61,833 or higher commensurate with experience, qualifications.  Leads and supervises a staff of engineers and trades personnel engaged in the operation of the County’s stormwater infrastructure and design and construction of the County’s stormwater capital projects.  Serves as the Program Administrator for the County’s Erosion and Sediment Control Program.  Responsible for Management of the MS4 Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) permitting program and environmental programs such as the Erosion and Sediment Control, Chesapeake Bay Protection Act, Watershed Management and Protection, and Wetlands.  Provides priority and direct support to the Mosquito Control Division in eliminating mosquito breeding areas.  Provides direct support to Waste Management’s leaf collection program.  Interfaces with the public regarding the County’s stormwater program.  Work is performed under general supervision.  Excellent benefits. 

Requires bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in civil engineering, to include at least 3 years of project management experience, and some design and field experience, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess a Virginia Professional Engineer license or eligible for licensing by comity in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Prefer certification as a Program Administrator for Erosion and Sediment Control through the Commonwealth of Virginia.

SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE

$6.50 per hour; no benefits.  Part-time on-call positions available in a federally funded Head Start program. Requires graduation from high school or equivalent. Under direct supervision, performs para-professional educational work in assisting Teachers in providing developmental services to children enrolled in the County’s Head Start program. Work involves providing assistance in planning and carrying out a daily program with the goal of meeting the physical and developmental needs of individual members of an assigned group of young children. Assists with the supervision and care of children, meal serving and clean-up.
