The
Wx station itself
(shown to the left here mounted atop our offices here at 105 Service
Drive) is a Vantage Pro Plus w/Fan-Aspirated Radiation Shield. The
station's data collector has battery backup to prevent the loss of data
collection in the event of a power outage. The station is mounted
approximately 23' from ground level to prevent wind blockage from the
building. Lightning detection is accomplished by a Boltek
Lightning Detection Antenna mounted near the Wx station (shown to the
left) and weather protected by a sealed 4" PVC
pipe w/PVC end caps. Our weather camera is a Canon VB-C10 (shown
to the left) mounted on our communications tower in a fan-aspirated
weather enclosure. All of these components are connected to a
Windows 2000 based server. The Software - The Wx Station is
monitored by Ambient Weather's VWS. It collects and displays
current and archived information as well as producing enhanced graphics
for what you see on the web. The Boltek hardware is monitored by
Astrogenic's NexStorm and StormVue products which provide live lightning
detection as well as archiving lightning activity. The VB-C10
WebCam is monitored by NetCam Watcher Pro to obtain the images displayed
on the front page of the weather station.
