SPECIAL NOR’EASTER STORM ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the recent Nor'easter event, the York County Waste Management Center will be open on the following dates for the disposal of storm-related debris, including vegetative debris, household waste (excluding chemical products), and construction debris: 

November 14, 15, 21, & 22 (Saturdays and Sundays)

Hours of operation for the disposal of vegetative debris at the VPPSA Composting Facility will be from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Hours of operation for the disposal of household waste and/or construction debris will be 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

GARBAGE SERVICE INFORMATION

For new service requests, please contact the York County Waste Management Center by phone at 890-3780 or email using our service request link EDS CUSTOMER SERVICE.  Actual service will begin one week after subscribing. 

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING REGARDING PLACEMENT OF MATERIALS

• Container Placement:  Because collection is automated, it is important to place your garbage containers properly at the curb or roadside.

  • Refuse containers must be placed at the front roadside by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day and weigh no more that 240 pounds to ensure collection.

• ALL MATERIALS (including yard waste) must be placed INSIDE your refuse container.

You may also schedule special collections for yard debris and bulky items by contacting the Waste Management Facility.

• York County’s weekly garbage collection service is available to all York County residents and to some eligible trailer homes, town-homes and/or small businesses. 
• Residents/businesses who subscribe to the County’s curbside collection service may bring household waste/garbage/construction debris to the Waste Management Center’s Transfer Station and citizen drop-off center free of charge.
•  ALL CONTRACTORS who bring waste to York County’s Transfer Station will be charged a tipping fee of $52 per ton (prorated). Contractors living in York County wishing to deliver materials collected from their personal residences must contact the York County Waste Management Center at 890-3780 at least one week in advance to allow staff to inspect the material to be delivered while still on the grounds of the residence. This is required to ensure that the materials being brought to the transfer station are in fact residential and not commercial in nature.
• The center is located at 145 Goodwin Neck Road, Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Office Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
• Residents from other localities and County residents who do not subscribe to the County’s curbside collection program may also bring materials to the facility, however a charge of $52.00 per ton (prorated by weight) will apply or a minimum fee of $7 dollars for the first 260 pounds.
• Both Basic and Low generator service provides for the collection of bulky materials (furniture and/or appliances) and unlimited materials to the Transfer Station.  For more information about bulk collections, please click >HERE<. (add link)
• Please do not place construction debris in your refuse container.

Service Charges

• Basic service is $32.00 bi-monthly and includes the use of two 95-gallon wheeled refuse containers.
• Low generator (Best value for the money) service includes the use of one 95-gallon container at a bi-monthly rate of $24.50.
• Back Door Service/Basic can be provided at your request for $56.50 Bi-monthly
• Back Door Service/Low Generator can be provided at your request for $49.00 Bi-monthly
• Basic/long lane is $63.50 Bi-monthly and can be provided at your request.
• Handicap/Elderly trash service. This service allows residents who are elderly, handicapped, or infirmed to place your trash at your back door for collection. This service is provided to our residents at a cost of $32.00 Bi-monthly if a doctor’s note states you are unable to move the container to the curb. With this service you may also set out your Bulky items to be collected by your container.
• Other Specialized Services can be provided at your request, however you will need to call the Waste Management Center to tailor the service to your needs if possible and obtain the cost for service.  
• Additional Trash Containers can be obtained for $16.00 Bi-monthly per Container.
