Research and development is critical to emerging technologies. There are 13 technological development centers at Virginia universities that focus on technologies that are vital to the state's competitiveness. The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) is responsible for these technological development centers, which are a proven and invaluable resource.

Technology

CIT is a private, nonprofit corporation created by the state to enhance competitiveness by providing business with access to the state's technological resources and assistance in the creation and retention of high-technology jobs. CIT helps Virginia companies to acquire technology, turn technology into a product, and take technology-based products to the market.
