
Overview:
The York County NxLevel Scholarship Program is a partnership of the York County Economic Development Authority
(EDA) and
Office of Economic Development and the Hampton Roads Small Business
Development Center (HRSBDC). The program was created to encourage York County's
business owners and entrepreneurs to attend the HRSBDC's NxLevel course, a
12-session, 15-week national entrepreneurial training program that helps
entrepreneurs learn the skills needed to create and strengthen successful
business ventures. NxLevel addresses the special needs of entrepreneurs by
providing a practical, hands-on approach to developing a small business,
whether just starting out or ready to grow.
Scholarship Details:
This program awards matching scholarships only; on a first-come,
first-served basis, to York County residents or businesses. The EDA offers
50% matching scholarships to any York County business or citizen who
successfully completes the Hampton Roads Small Business Development Center’s
NxLevel Course. The total cost of the class is $600 (Currently $200 for
veterans), so scholarships are typically in the amount of $300 ($100 for
veterans) and are awarded on an individual basis upon request.
Scholarship Amount:
Scholarships are 50 percent of total class costs up to $300 per business.
Qualification Criteria:
Businesses must have a current York County Business License or entrepreneur
must currently live in York County.
