York County has attracted approximately $140 million worth of non-residential development between 1990 and 1998. Although this includes certain public and semi-public facilities, such as the York-Poquoson Courthouse and the Grafton High/Middle School complex, most of this construction has been commercial and industrial. Almost 2.5 million square feet of commercial and industrial space have been approved in the County during the 1990s, 81% of it commercial and 19% of it industrial.
This economic development, aided by a strong national economy in the first half of the decade, has helped to increase the County's commercial tax revenues from $27 million in 1998 to over $30 million in 2004.
Quality sites from two acres to 250 acres can be found throughout the County. The York River Commerce Park, located in the lower part of the County, has fully developed build-to-suit sites in a campus-style environment. Busch Industrial Park and International Center, two exceptional locations in the upper County near Williamsburg, have immediate access to I-64.
