THE RIGHT TO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE


1. Victims are entitled to assistance in the return of property held as evidence.

2. Victims may be eligible to receive financial assistance through such sources as restitution, social services and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund.  For more information on qualifications, contact the Victim-Witness Assistance Program at (757) 890-3402.

3. Victims and Witnesses have a right to information about community resources that provide counseling and emergency assistance.  Call the Victim-Witness Assistance Program for more information.

4. If you have been subpoenaed by the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, and have to travel to court from out of state, you may be eligible to have travel arrangements made for you or to be reimbursed for travel expenses. Contact the Victim-Witness Assistance Program for more information.
