Safety Town
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a “Safety Town”?
Safety Town is a safe and interesting learning environment that is set up to simulate an actual
town. This portable site features mock buildings, sidewalks and streets, and is
used as a practice area for several of the safety lessons.
What is the Purpose of Safety Town?
Childhood
injury is responsible for more deaths than all childhood diseases combined.
Being aware of the dangers that can lead to injury and learning ways to avoid
them is a positive step toward prevention. Safety Town is a County-wide,
community-based project designed to introduce and teach young children various
aspects of life safety. Through the use of age-appropriate, hands-on,
interactive experiences, children will enjoy learning lifesaving behaviors and
practices that can help reduce the chance of serious injury.
