The purpose of the business
districts is to provide for the orderly development and rational classification of
business and commercial land uses based on market orientation and service area
characteristics. The districts are designed to provide opportunities for a wide variety of
commercial and office activities serving the needs of neighborhoods, communities and
regional markets as well as specific market groups. It is also the purpose of the business
district regulations to protect the economic base of the county, promote the efficient use
of commercial land areas and ensure the compatibility of business areas with other land
uses and with the environment.
