ARTICLE VI. VIOLATIONS AND
PENALTIES
Sec. 7.1-59.
Generally.
It shall be unlawful for any person to
violate any provision of this chapter or the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code or
of the Property Maintenance Code or fail to comply with any of the requirements thereof,
or erect, construct, alter or repair or maintain a building or structure in violation of
an approved plan or directive of the building code official or in violation of a permit or
certificate issued under the USBC. It shall be unlawful for any person to continue any
work in or about the building after having been served with a stop work order, except such
work as he or she is directed to perform to remove a violation, unsafe or substandard
condition. Upon conviction, violations shall be shall be punishable by a fine up to the
maximum permitted by § 36-106, Code of Virginia, and each day that a violation continues
shall be deemed a separate offense.
