Yorktown Victory Center presents public lecture series commemorate the 231st anniversary of the decisive Revolutionary War victory in Yorktown.  Saturdays at 7 p.m., September 22, September 29, October 6, October 27.  Yorktown Victory Center, 200 Water Street.  Free admission.  Reservations recommended, at (757) 253-4572 or rsvp@jyf.virginia.gov.

  • September 22 – “Patriots Claim a New Destiny; Loyalists Defend Their Heritage in the United States of America,” presented by Yorktown Victory Center Senior Curator Sarah Meschutt.
  • September 29 – “‘Like the peace of God, it passeth all understanding’: The Peace of Paris (1763) and the Unforeseeable American Revolution,” presented by University of Colorado Professor and author Fred Anderson.
  • October 6 – “Battle of the Capes,” presented by East Carolina University Associate Professor and author John Tilley.
  • October 27 – “Origins of the Constitution,” presented by University of Richmond Professor and author Abner (Woody) Linwood Holton III.
