The York County Public Library offers summer reading programs for children, teens and adults. The 2012 programs run from June 25 through August 3. The Library offers special events, performances, movies, story times and prizes. All programs are free of charge and open to everyone. Registration is not required to attend the programs, but registration is required to participate in the reading programs and to be eligible for prizes. Registration begins June 18. Teens and adults register online, while children ages 2 to 12 register online (through July 2) or in person at the Tabb or Yorktown Youth Services desk.

Read for the Gold!
Before the Summer Olympics are underway, why not get into the competition early? Join our adult summer reading program. Read and review books each week during the six week program, June 25 through August 3. Log your reviews for each book on our summer reading website. A bronze, silver and gold medal winner will be named each week, as well as three grand prize winners at the conclusion of the program. Registration is ongoing through July 31.
- This program is open to any York County Public Library patron who is 18 years or older and whose account is in good standing with total fines and fees less than $5.
- Participants may read or listen to any book from the York County Public Library's Adult Fiction, Adult Nonfiction, Adult OneClickdigital, Adult OverDrive or Adult Graphic Novel Collection (excluding cookbooks, honor books and Young Adult books).
- Patrons may read as many books as they wish per week.
- Book reviews must include the title, author last and first name, a short review (3 sentence minimum), rating, genre and type of book read (book, CD, audiobook, eBook).
- Only "public" book reviews are eligible for prize drawings. Book reviews that contain offensive language are not eligible for the prize drawings.
- Prize drawings will be held each Monday afternoon from entries received the previous week. Winners will be contacted by email or phone. The winning names will be available on the library's website after 5 p.m. each Monday.
- Participants may win only one weekly prize.
- All weekly entries will be entered into the final grand prize drawing held at the conclusion of the program.
- All prizes must be claimed by August 31, 2012.
