WHEN YOU COME TO COURT

As you enter the courthouse, you will go through a screening process conducted by a Sheriff's Deputy. The process includes screening of all cases and purses brought into the building as well as a "walk through" screening. All prohibited items MUST be left outside the courthouse. Sheriff's Deputies WILL NOT hold or take any responsibility for items left outside the courthouse. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING PROHIBITED ITEMS WITH YOU:

1. The Court prohibits ALL electronic devices including, but not limited to: cell phones*, pagers*, lap top computers, palm pilots, beepers, tape recorders, radios, video games, walk-man, DVD and CD players.  *No Cell phones and pagers are allowed in the Courthouse*
2. The Court prohibits ANYTHING that could be used as a weapon including, but not limited to: guns, knives, scissors and knitting needles. 

Proper attire and behavior are required of everyone who enters a courtroom.  Clothing must be clean and properly worn.  The following attire will not be allowed by anyone in the courtroom:

1. NO -  Shorts, Capri Pants, Tank-tops, Halter-tops, Spaghetti or Strapless Tops.
2. NO - Skirts that do not extend to at least the middle of the thigh while sitting.
3. NO - Exposed underwear, midriffs, stomachs, or buttocks.
4. NO - Slacks, trouser, or jeans that can only be supported by the wearer's hands. 
5. NO - Bare feet, bedroom slippers, or Flip Flops
6. NO - Offensive, violent, obscene, or suggestive slogans or caricatures shall be displayed on clothing.
7. NO - Chewing gum, candy, tobacco, or food.

• There is NO SMOKING in the courthouse.
• Food and drink may be had ONLY IN RESTRICTED AREAS.
• All persons required to appear before the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court should arrive on time.  It is important that everyone involved in a case be ready when the case is called in the courtroom.
• The court does not have child care services; therefore, the only children who should be brought to court are those children involved in the case or whose presence is requested or required by the court, an attorney, or a probation officer.  No child under 12 years of age will be admitted in the courtroom.
• Anyone who misbehaves or enters a courtroom improperly dressed may be sent away until properly attired, or may be found in contempt of court and subjected to a fine, or incarceration, or both.
