Special Operations are overseen by the Technical Services and Special Operations (TSSO) Battalion which is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s emergency response operations through: training and education; equipment and procedural research; testing and evaluation; quality improvement; health and safety; logistics management; and coordination of specialized teams and special events. The TSSO Battalion is responsible for coordinating the County’s special operations capabilities to include: technical rescue, hazardous materials response, medical response to weapons of mass destruction, maritime incident response and the departments support of and operations at special events.
