Call the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)  for problems concerning roadside drainage that include roadside ditches, their connecting easement right of way, and outfall drainageways that generally carry water from the roadside and all associated culverts. To report a roadside related drainage problem call 1-800-367-7623.

Call York County Environmental & Development Services’ Stormwater Management Division at 890-3752 for county easement off-road drainageways that often carry water to the roadside. If there is no specified, dedicated drainage easement on one’s property plat, then the homeowner assumes responsibility for maintenance.
