The United States Constitution, the Constitution of Virginia, and the Code of Virginia require that the Commonwealth and its localities redistrict following the Decennial Census.
The U.S. Department of Justice will then review the plans. If the U.S. Department of Justice approves these plans, new voter cards and notices will be mailed to voters who will be affected by the changes. The voter cards will tell voters what districts they live in as well as where their polling place is located.
