LOCAL REDISTRICTING

2011 Redistricting

The United States Constitution, the Constitution of Virginia, and the Code of Virginia require that the Commonwealth and its localities redistrict following the Decennial Census.

The U.S. Department of Justice will then review the plans. If the U.S. Department of Justice approves these plans, new voter cards and notices will be mailed to voters who will be affected by the changes. The voter cards will tell voters what districts they live in as well as where their polling place is located.

Current Election Districts, Precincts, and Polling Places

Until the new boundaries are approved by the U.S. Department of Justice, the boundaries adopted after the 2000 Census will remain in place. Further information can be obtained about these boundaries and polling places as follows:

Find Your Polling Place and Registration Status

You can find your polling place and registration status by visiting the Voter Information website maintained by the Department of Elections.
