Elizabeth Hodson, Operations Superintendent
Elizabeth “Betsy” Hodson, hired as York County Mosquito Control Biologist 2012, now is the Operations Superintendent. She is a graduate of Christopher Newport University and holds a BA in Biology . She taught in the public school system as well as at the Virginia Living Museum. Elizabeth served on the board of the Tidewater Mosquito Vector Control Council and has participated in AMCA's Washington Days event in 2013-2015. Elizabeth is a certified Master Oyster Gardner and Virginia Master Naturalist. She is a licensed Commercial and Public Health Pesticide Applicator. She is Virginia state certified as a Stormwater Inspector. She continuously researches green mosquito control methods.
Michelle Slosser, Mosquito Control Biologist
Michelle Slosser, Mosquito Control biologist, has been serving the citizens of York County since the spring of 2015. She is a Virginia Beach native and a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a BS in Biology. Michelle's focus is on wildlife and she has completed extensive research in this area. She currently is the Vice President of the Tidewater Mosquito Vector Control Council. She is a certified Virginia Master Naturalist and a Newport News CERT volunteer. She is the leader of York County’s mosquito monitoring program.
Janice Gardner - Mosquito Control Technician
Janice Gardner, Mosquito Control Technician, is new to the county and graduated from James Madison University ’14. She has a BS in Geographic Science and brings several years of field experience to the county from collecting fish larvae to shorebird studies. Janice is a perfect asset to York County’s Mosquito Control.
