Elizabeth Hodson, Biologist
Elizabeth “Betsy” Hodson, York County Mosquito Control Biologist since 2012, is a graduate of Christopher Newport University. She holds a BA in Biology and taught in the Newport News public school system as well as at the Virginia Living Museum. Elizabeth is the president of the Tidewater Mosquito Vector Control Council and has participated in AMCA's Washington Days event in 2013-2015. Elizabeth is a certified Master Oyster Gardner and Virginia Master Naturalist. She is a licensed Commercial and Public Health Pesticide Applicator. She is Virginia state certified as a Stormwater Inspector. She continuously researches green mosquito control methods and is the leader of York County’s mosquito monitoring program.
Michelle Slosser, Mosquito Control Technician
Michelle Slosser, Mosquito Control Technician, has been serving the citizens of York County since the spring of 2015. She is a Virginia Beach native and a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a BS in Biology. Michelle's focus is on wildlife and she has completed extensive research in this area. She is a certified Virginia Master Naturalist and a Newport News CERT volunteer.
Sidwayne Collins - Mosquito Control Technician
Sidwayne “Sid” Collins was born in Lee County, Virginia and has been a Hampton Roads resident for over 40 years. He served his Country as a Sergeant in the US Army for 8 years and served 2 years in Vietnam. By trade, Sid is a skilled machinist; he retired as General Manager from a local machine shop after 39 years of employment. Sid is a certified pest control applicator and has been driving a mosquito spray truck for York County for over 27 years. He is an asset to our team.
