Brian Fuller, Manager of Parks, Recreation and Tourism (PRT), is responsible for overseeing daily operations of York County’s eleven parks, the Senior Center of York, the McReynolds Athletic Complex, Riverwalk Landing, and the county’s youth, adult and community programs and events. The division also is responsible for facility scheduling for selected schools and all parks. Employees of PRT work as staff liaisons with ten boards and commissions/committees appointed by the Board of Supervisors to provide citizen input on topics such as park facilities, the arts, senior citizen programs, and more.
Mr. Fuller earned his Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Leisure Services, and Physical Education from Virginia Wesleyan College and is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. He is a 2015 graduate of LEAD Historic Triangle, a program that provides the foundation necessary to develop effective leaders within the community. Mr. Fuller began working in York County in 1984 as a Recreation Supervisor I and held the position of Recreation Supervisor II prior to being named Manager in 2012. He has been an active member of both the Virginia Recreation and Park Society and the National Recreation and Park Association for over 30 years. Mr. Fuller was responsible for organizing and managing the logistics and ceremonies for the first international visit of the French tall ship L’Hermione, a reconstruction of the ship that aided Americans in the Revolutionary War.
