Fescue Lawn Renovation Workshops

Fall is the best season to renovate a fescue lawn. Incorporating organic matter, PH level, and seed selection are topics of the lawn renovation program.  All classes are from 10 am to noon at the following locations.  Call the Extension office at 757- 890-4940 to register.

Go Green Expo

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Peninsula Master Gardeners are once again sponsoring the “Go Green Expo”, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Brittingham-Midtown Community Center, 570 McLawhorne Drive.  This FREE family event is from10 am to 3 pm and is open to the public!  This year’s theme is “Eat Local, Grow Local, Live Local.”  For event details and vendor registration visit:

Lead Soil Testing at the Go Green Expo

If your house was built prior to 1979, you may want to have your soil tested for Lead.  Bring a soil sample in a zip-top plastic bag, and Virginia Department of Health will screen it for FREE!  For more information, visit

Master Gardener’s Plant Sale

The York/Poquoson Extension Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale on Saturday, September 23 from 8am to 12pm.  Annuals, perennials, shrubs and  trees will be for sale. For up to date information about the sale, visit or call 757-890-4940.

A Talk In The Garden

The York/Poquoson Master Gardeners will hold monthly, A Talk in the Garden at the York County Learning Garden located at 301 Goodwin Neck Road (adjacent to the York County Public Safety Building).  The Talks are the third Thursday of each month from 11:30 to Noon through October.  Bring your lunch and listen to a different topic each month.  Topics are posted on
