Monitor Volunteer Program

The mosquito monitor volunteer program was established in order to enhance citizen awareness and give citizens a stake in the mosquito control effort and its outcome.

During mosquito season, citizens who have called mosquito control about high numbers of mosquitoes came become participants in the mosquito integrated management effort by allowing mosquito control to set traps in their yards. This can be done once or several times over the season. The traps will be set late in the day by student interns and collected the next day. The students will identify the species of mosquitoes and a report can be sent to the participant.
This information is used as one of the criteria in determining whether a particular area's mosquito infestation warrants a spray treatment.

Special thanks to our volunteers!
