November 2017 Election
An election will be held on November 7, 2017, to elect a Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and members of the House of Delegates. Voters in School Board District 2 will be choosing a member of the School Board. This page contains information on the following topics:

The Constitution of Virginia requires that voters be registered in the precinct in which they live in order to be qualified to vote. The deadline to register to vote in the election, or to update one's registration information in time for the election, is Monday, October 16, 2017.
Qualified residents who will be at least 18 years of age on or before November 7, 2017, may register and vote. Voters who are members of the uniformed services or who are overseas may visit the website of the Department of Elections for information on how to ensure they are able to vote in this election.
There are three ways citizens can register or update their voter registration information:
- Citizens can register to vote and check their voter registration information online.
- A copy of the voter registration form is also available online and can be printed off, completed, signed, and then mailed or hand delivered to the Registrar's Office.
- Citizens may come to one of the following sites and register in person:

You are able to look up your voter registration information online. Once you provide your information, you will be able to access what is on your ballot, which districts you live in, who the candidates are, how to contact the candidates (including their websites), your voting history, and where your polling place is.
York County will have five different ballots in the November election. In order to determine which one will be the one you receive, you will need to know your polling place and which House of Delegates district you live in. You can find this information by going online and providing your information. Please note, too, that you are able to find contact information for the candidates while on that website, including their websites.

If you are unable to go to your polling place on Election Day you may be allowed to vote absentee. If you qualify, Virginia allows us to mail you an absentee ballot, or you can come to the Registrar's Office to vote an absentee ballot in person.
Voters who wish to vote in person may come to the Registrar's Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. We are located in the County Administration Center, which is in Historic Yorktown at 224 Ballard Street, Yorktown, VA 23690.
Voters who wish to vote by mail have two ways that they may obtain an absentee ballot:
- Voters may apply for an absentee ballot online.
- A copy of the absentee ballot application may be obtained online, printed off, completed, signed, and then mailed (PO Box 451, Yorktown, VA 23690), emailed (firstname.lastname@example.org), or faxed (757-890-3449) to the Registrar's Office.
Please note the following deadlines and dates for absentee voting:
FINAL DAY TO APPLY FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT
By mail: Tuesday, October 31, 2017, by 5 PM
In person: Saturday, November 4, 2017, by 5 PM
The Registrar’s Office will be open Saturday, October 28, and Saturday, November 4, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. for absentee voting. Applications for registration and absentee ballots, as well as sample ballots, are available at the above registration sites and on the Registrar’s website at www.yorkcounty.gov/voting or by calling the Registrar’s Office at 890-3440 (hearing impaired: TTD 890-3300).
The law permits emergency absentee voting in a few, very limited situations until 2 PM on Monday, November 6, 2017. For more information on emergency absentee voting, call the Registrar’s Office at 890-3440.
